Niagara Falls – Canada

After leaving Toronto the in thing to do is visit Niagara Falls on your way into the U.S. but word of advice fellow travellers, make sure you do this from the Canadian border and not the American! The views are sooooo much better and you get a lot more value for your money/Dollar.

I packed night before after seeing the CN Tower as my train to Niagara was at the early time of around 8am in morning, yes 08:00 is early for some travellers, just saying! I managed to grab a taxi from outside hostel and got to my train with a good twenty mins to spare, Toronto cabs are reasonably priced.

The train journey was pretty quick and I arrived in Niagara around about 10:45, with the whole day ahead of me! My backpack needs locking away as its heavy and I can’t be dragging that round Niagara so I find that the bus station depot is just opposite the train station, “score!”$2 to lock away my gear though which I found was a tad steep! Anyways I realise I’ve locked my locker and I needed something back from it so little did I know this is going to cost me another $2 to re-open it! “Miss!”

I’m ready for Niagara now and I get chatting to a fellow traveller on route from Washington who is also keen to see it with me and we agree to hang out and see it both together, she thought it’d be best to walk there as in fairness it was a lovely day so why rush it via jumping in a taxi, was only about a mile walk or so so why hell not! I didn’t even know this person but thought just go with it and see where it leads. We didn’t waste any time and got right to it. We did the boat trip out into near the underneath of the waterfalls where it comes with a guarantee that your going to get a bit wet! Also another trip through one of the dams tunnels that brings you right out facing the water which was nice as you get real close up for some good photos. This led to getting some amazing shots as the weather started to get bit wet then sunny again. For two strangers we got on just like we were friends and it was day to remember for us both!

The views are unbelievable, we got real close to the actual waterfalls themselves after boarding one of the sail boats you can hop on to see Niagara for it’s true worth but I was a bit surprised that they don’t supply you with life jackets because had we gone overboard then we all would of been done for! Its pretty choppy here and a guarantee of getting wet! Got some great shots so feel free to take a look below ;).

We also got really lucky with what everybody loves to see which was a rainbow as weather took bit of a change, still didn’t ruin a beautiful day though! I lastly got to meet a rather cool falcon as well who was remarkably well behaved. Once again very random!

My day is now complete and it’s time for the long trip down into Chicago and more importantly passing through the dreaded customs of the American border beginining my American tour for the next approx three months! Next stop is Buffalo then the Windy City of my kinda town, Chicagoooooo!

Let’s hope my Esta works…..
